Dear UW faculty, staff and students,
Each spring quarter, for more than a decade, the University of Washington has celebrated 100 students who are making the most of their Husky Experience — and I am delighted to announce this year’s Husky 100.
These undergraduate, graduate and professional students from all three campuses are making a difference at the UW, in their communities and beyond. By connecting what they are learning through their coursework, research, internships and jobs, and campus and community engagement, each is creating their own unique Husky Experience.
They are veterans, parents, first-gen students and second-generation Huskies. They come from as close as Seattle’s South End and as far away as Eastern Europe. They include designers, engineers, educators, advocates, writers, computer scientists, athletes and medical professionals.
As role models and inspiration for others, the Husky 100 are curious, driven and resilient. They are navigating our complex world by seeking to understand different cultures. They are mindful leaders who put the needs of others ahead of their own.
Most of all, the Husky 100 have demonstrated that they are ready for what comes next. They believe in what is possible through innovation, collaboration and creativity. They are writing their futures.
I encourage you to reach out to the Husky 100 students in your department, school, college or campus and congratulate them for their work and contributions to the UW and our communities.
Finally, I would like to thank all students who applied to the Husky 100 — as in each of the past 11 years, there were no easy decisions. Thank you, also, to the faculty, staff and students who nominated and endorsed applicants and reviewed applications. The contributions of UW leaders, faculty, staff, students and alumni have been essential to the ongoing success of this recognition program.
Thank you,
