Winter quarter has been busy with this year’s Inclusive Pedagogies programming. In January, College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) faculty, staff, and graduate students spent the day honing their
RaceTalk skills for cross-racial communication. Workshop participants created personalized “racetalk as a skill” lesson plans to address student resistance and discomfort about discussing race/ism and other difficult topics. As one participant remarked, “I learned to address potential classroom issues in a productive and non-anxiety producing way.”
In February, participants collaborated with colleagues on how to best address several pedagogical issues including accessibility, managing microaggressions, and inclusive course design. This hands-on workshop led by the
Center for Teaching and Learning allowed instructors to share strategies and create communities of practice around inclusive teaching.
The first cohort of Inclusive Pedagogies Fellows has been meeting regularly to support each other in creating classroom materials that center equity, justice, and inclusion. Learn more about what they and other instructors have been up to at the
CTL’s Spring Symposium on April 16. If you have suggestions for next year’s inclusive pedagogies programming, please reach out.
