College of Education students and faculty gathered to showcase of teacher candidates’ culminating projects for their course “Understanding Tribal Perspectives: Implications for Teaching and Learning” and the first graduates of the UW’s Native Education Certificate Program. More

This July, a group of approximately 20 teacher fellows came together to explore how project-based learning can transform the classroom and plan how they’ll build their practice around student inquiry throughout the coming school year. More

Celebrate the Legacies of Fellow Ambassadors Drs. James A. & Cherry A. Banks and the Installation of Dr. Django Paris - October 10: Join us at Ray's Boathouse (6049 Seaview Ave NW, Seattle, WA 98107) to recognize the extraordinary work and generosity of the Banks Family. Their commitment to equity inspired a generation of scholars and lifted the field of Multicultural Education. Dr. Django Paris will be formally installed as the inaugural James A. and Cherry A. Banks Professor of Multicultural Education and Director of the Banks Center for Educational Justice. For more information and/or to RSVP email sasha9@uw.edu.
Conversation and book signing with James A. Banks - October 17, 7-8 p.m.: Join us at the University Book Store where Dr. Banks will discuss his work and career in a conversation with Professor Joy Williamson-Lott, UW College of Education. Banks will sign copies of the newly-released sixth edition of his seminal text "An Introduction to Multicultural Education," which helps busy pre-service and practicing educators increase their understanding of what multicultural education means for the increasingly diverse classrooms in the United States today. No RSVP needed.
